
The top 15 things which you would like to immediately do once the lockdown is lifted- A run-down on the check list for a Supply Chain Professionals……
All the Supply chains and particularly Chemical and Pharma supply chains are in a disarray due to the 21 days lock down due to Covid-19 pandemic. The lockdown started on 25th of March and will continue till 14th of April. So most of the Supply Chain personals are currently working from home. However, they are expected to resume their offices soon.
As soon as they join their office, it is but natural that there will be deluge of work responsibilities which they are expected to attend on a war footing basis. It is but natural for them to get overwhelmed while attending so many tasks at a time. So here is the rundown of the things which they can check, and this check list can become their guide as soon as they resume office :-
1. Check if the entire team is back in office or some of the team members are still sick or not able to resume the office due to the near and dear once being hospitalized.
2. Prepare the list of very essential staff which they would like to maintain depending upon the availability of the staff, to continue working and provide their services to the stake holders till all the mandatory conditions related to lockdown are withdrawn by the Government..
3. Check if the sufficient stock of PPE’s is available as required or if additional crash order is required to be placed. The PPE’s make include N95 mask, 3 ply mask, PPE kit etc.
4. Check if all the Supply Chain staff are connected to the company’s system network and they are able to function their laptops/desktops and are able to access internet if required.
5. Check if sufficient quantity of disinfectant is available in the company such as Sodium Hypochlorite or if some agency is contracted for regular disinfection.
6. Check if the office area (particularly the Supply Chain office area) is properly cleaned and sanitized and the protocol as prescribed by the local government is strictly followed such as
- a. That all the team members are using PPE’s as required.
- b. Complete sanitization of the office is done before resuming the work.
- c. Single entry point, so that the sanitization of the individual is ensured before he or she enters the office.
- d. Social distancing is being maintained the office, and according sitting arrangements is being made.
- e. Social distancing is maintained in the vehicles used for transporting the employees.
7. Check if the list of the orders which are required to be released immediately are available such as urgent raw materials, packing material, catalysts, etc.
8. Check if the empanelled transporters have resumed the services or if they are willing to place the vehicles as a part of the customer order fulfilment.
9. Check if the list of consignments arrived for clearance at the various Indian ports, airports and the land customs station is available.
10. Check if the labour contractors have resumed the supply of daily casual workers, semi skilled workers and the plant operators as required by the individual plants.
11. Check with the EHS department if they have some urgent requirements in terms of PPE’s or some safety items.
12. Check if the essential service providers to the company have any issues for resuming their services such as Bus operators, canteen operators, housekeeping agency etc.
13. Check if all the facilities such as stores and warehouses are in good condition and all the items stocked are okay.
14. Check if the overseas suppliers and Indian suppliers are in a position to resume the supply in terms of the quantities required as per the earlier agreed rate. If not then place order on alternate suppliers.
15. Check if all the insurance policies are in place. Review the insurance policies and make necessary amendments if required.
